Yamuna Drive: Restoring a Lifeline

Yamuna Drive: Restoring a Lifeline

Post By: PRAHA

At PRAHA Foundation, we believe in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change. Our dedicated volunteers came together for a monumental effort: the Yamuna Cleaning Drive. This initiative not only aimed to rejuvenate one of India’s most iconic rivers but also to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our natural heritage.

The Mission Behind the Drive:

The Yamuna River, a lifeline for millions, has been suffering from severe pollution. PRAHA Foundation initiated this cleaning drive to:

  • Restore the ecological balance of the river.
  • Inspire community participation in environmental conservation.
  • Spread awareness about reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices.

Highlights of the Day:

  1. Volunteer Participation: Over 50+ volunteers, from school students to senior citizens, joined us, bringing their enthusiasm and dedication.
  2. Collective Effort: Together, we removed approximately 3000 kgs of waste, including plastics and other pollutants.
  3. Awareness Sessions: Informative discussions on waste management and the impact of river pollution educated both participants and local communities.
  4. Support from Local Authorities: With assistance from civic bodies, our efforts were streamlined and impactful.

Impact and Outcomes:

The drive resulted in a visibly cleaner riverbank and strengthened our resolve to work towards a sustainable future. But this is just the beginning!
